CellularOne is pleased to introduce the Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS). By downloading and installing CellularOne's new emergency alert system app, users can stay informed of adverse weather conditions, extreme and severe imminent threat warnings, Amber alerts, and Presidential alerts. CMAS serves as the wireless equivalent of the Emergency Broadcast System.

We clarify that CellularOne is an independent entity and is not associated with any government body or law enforcement agency. We cannot guarantee the receipt of alerts issued by emergency alert entities or agencies.

Q: Who sends CMAS alerts?
Most CMAS alerts are initiated by the National Weather Service, with some, like Amber alerts, being prompted by local law enforcement. All alerts are first verified through the FEMA alerting gateway before being distributed to the mobile network.

Q: Do I need a smartphone to utilize the CMAS app?
Yes, currently the CMAS app is exclusive to CellularOne smartphone users.

Q: What types of alerts are accessible through CMAS?
CMAS provides alerts for adverse weather conditions including extreme and severe imminent threat warnings, Amber alerts, and Presidential alerts. It is important to note that certain weather events such as severe thunderstorms and gradual events like hurricanes and blizzards are not transmitted via the FEMA system and therefore not available on this app.

Q: Will wireless customers incur charges for CMAS/WEA alerts?
Wireless customers will not be billed for receiving CMAS messages.

Q: Does CMAS track user location?
No, CMAS does not trace personally identifiable information or locations of individuals. This ensures that subscriber-related data is not collected by authorities. The app accesses location services solely to provide alerts relevant to the user's area without retaining this information historically.
